The Anger Family

                                                         

 I visited the Anger Family cemetery (located in Dunnville, Ontario) in early May. Supposedly, the land used to be part of the Anger Family farm property. There is not a whole lot of information on the history of the place, though. It overlooks the grand river, which may or may not be somewhat eerie considering one of its burials was due to a drowning that occurred there.

                        FUTHER INFORMATION AND PHOTOS

 Lorn (or Loren) Anger, son of Silas Avery Anger and Sarah Burnham, who was born September 5th, 1877 and died June 27th, 1894. He drowned in the grand river at the age of 16.





His burial accounts for 1 of the known 15 at Anger Cemetery, the rest being:

Aaron Anger, son of Silas Avery Anger and Sarah Burnham, and brother of the above Lorn Anger, and the below (a few down) Ira Anger, Levi Anger, Sarah Anger, Violet Anger, and Lottie Anger. He was born May 28th, 1882 in Dunnville, and died July 9th, 1909 in Dunnville, when he was killed by a hay fork, at the age of 27, that he accidentally fell upon. The prongs of the fork were driven through his lungs.



Calvin A. Anger, son of Charles Anger and Lucinda Farr, born January 10th, 1864 in Dunnville, and died January 28th, 1869 in Dunnville as well.



Charles Henry Anger, father of the above Calvin A. Anger and Pelick Tabor Anger, son of Michael Mark Anger, and Catherine Burnham, and therefore brother of Daniel Anger and Silas Anger, was born in 1836 in Dunnville, and died August 28th, 1878 in Dunnville as well. He was the husband of Lucinda Farr, mother of the above Calvin A. Anger and Pelick Tabor Anger.

Daniel Anger, son of Michael Mark Anger and Catherine Burnham, and therefore brother of  Charles Anger and Silas Anger, was born August 29, 1834, and died October 23, 1884, both in Dunnville. Husband of Susanna "Susan" Greer. Their known children included: Elisa Ann (March 7, 1875 - ?), Bertha (March 2, 1877 - ?), Catherine Violet (August 25th, 1873 - ?), Edith (About 1878 - ?, married Theodore Fox on Dec. 16, 1902), and Emily (April 26, 1871 - ?).

Ira Anger, son of Silas Avery Anger and Sarah Burnham, and therefore sibling to Lorn Anger, Aaron Anger, Levi Anger, Sarah Anger, Violet Anger, and Lottie Anger. He was born April 2nd, 1857 and died August 2nd, 1858, both in Dunnville.


Levi Anger, son of Silas Avery Anger and Sarah Burnham, and therefore sibling to Lorn Anger, Aaron Anger, Levi Anger, Sarah Anger, Violet Anger, Lottie Anger, and Ira Anger. He was born December 31st of 1870, and died May 23rd of 1898, both in Dunnville.

Lottie Adortha Anger, daughter of Silas Avery Anger and Sarah Burnham, and therefore sibling to Lorn Anger, Aaron Anger, Ira Anger, Sarah Anger, Violet Anger, and Levi Anger. She was born on September 15th, 1875 and died on August 12th, 1876, both in Dunnville. 


Pelick Tabor Anger, son of Charles Anger and Lucinda Farr, and therefore sibling to Calvin A. Anger. He was born in Dunnville on April 10th of 1862, and died in Dunnville on February 28th of 1863. He was named after his grandfather, Pelick Tabor Farr, father of his mother Lucinda Farr. 


Sarah Burnham Anger, daughter of George Avery Burnham and Eliza Anger. She was married to Silas Avery Anger. Sarah was born in May of 1837 in Canborough Township, and died on February 20th of 1920, in Dunnville. Sarah Melissa Anger, daughter of Silas Avery Anger and Sarah Burnham, and therefore sibling to Lottie Anger, Lorn Anger, Aaron Anger, Ira Anger, Violet Anger, and Levi Anger. She was born on June 1st of 1873 and died on November 19th of 1877. 


Silas Avery Anger, son of Michael Mark Anger and Catherine Burnham, and therefore sibling to both Charles Anger and Daniel Anger, was born on March 23rd of 1833 and died on April 4th of 1908, both in Dunnville. He was married to Sarah Burnham, and had many known children with her, 7 of which are buried in Anger Cemetery with them - Ira, Levi, Sarah, Lottie, Loren, Violet and Aaron. His other son, Lyman Anger (1855 - 1940), survived past his youth and married Catherine (1855 - 1931).  Both of them are buried in Riverside Cemetery, in Dunnville.
Another son, William John (1861 - Feb. 6, 1934) survived as well, married Ann M. Moore, and later died of pneumonia.  Other children were: Alexander (March 20, 1864 - June 3, 1939), Eliza Jane (April 1860 - March 4, 1933), Elda (May 15, 1866 - ?), and Silas Avery Jr. (March 23, 1867 - May 30, 1947).


Violet Catherine Anger, son of Silas Avery Anger and Sarah Burnham, was born on March 15th of 1880, and died on June 14th of 1881, both in Dunnville. She was sibling to Ira, Levi, Sarah, Lottie, Loren, Violet, and Aaron. 


Eliza C. Gifford, daughter of Maxwell Gifford and Maria Anger, was born on January 2nd of 1860 and died on April 2nd of 1861. Known other children of Maxwell Gifford and Maria Anger included Charles V. ( - 1926), Harvey Wallace (1874 - ?, married Etta Martin on November 24th, 1899), and Alice Jane (about 1861 -  Nov. 11, 1935, married John Bryan on December 4th of 1879). Not to be confused with Violet Catherine. This is the birth certificate of Catherine Violet, daughter of Daniel Anger. Catherine's location of burial is not known.

He had two known younger brothers, Albert Claude  (born 1850, married Lillian Thorn after Ida E Bedell), and James (born 1852, married Charlotte Jane and later Melvina). Stephen  married Elizabeth Lucas on September 20th of 1869, and they had five known children. He is buried in Bowerman Hill Cemetery in Hallowell. Elizabeth Lucas  was born November 21st, 1850 in Belleville, Hastings County, to Miles Lucas (1824-1903)   and Olive Bowerman (1823-1901, dau. of John and Mary) . She died August 2

The Jamestown Masonic Cemetery

When I was in Jamestown, Tuolumne County, California, I decided to go visit the Jamestown Masonic Cemetery located on Jamestown road and easily accessible from Golden Chain Highway 49. I noticed that there are quite a lot of masonic cemeteries and gravestones in and around the Jamestown area.  Jamestown is technically a ghost town from the days of the California Gold Rush, although it does have a small population these days. The Douglas Family

The story starts in Smithville United Cemetery, in Smithville, Ontario, Canada. Near the old church there is a grave which states:                                                                                                                                      Simon P. Emerson                                                             Born in Manchester, N. H., U. S.                                                                         Mar. 20 1810                                                                 Died in Smithville, C. W.                                                                         July 11, 1860 C. W. refers to Canada West, and of course N. H. is a reference to New Hampshire. Simon was born around 1809 and his parents are unknown, but he married a woman named Harriet Griffin Douglas on February 1st of 1840 and there is a plethora of information about her ancestry. They had one known child named Thomas Emerson, who was born in March 1841 in
